Expectations
- Experience: Proven track record as a Head / Lead Technical Artist with shipped projects (multiplatform experience — PC, Console, Mobile — is highly desirable).
- Graphics Expertise: Deep understanding of real-time graphics, including rendering pipelines, shader complexity, streaming, LOD/HLOD, and asset budgeting.
- Engineering Partnership: Experience designing technical solutions on equal footing with graphics, systems, and tools engineers.
- Automation Skills: Hands-on experience building scalable automation tools (basic scripting, batch tools, content validators).
- Business Acumen: Ability to calculate the total cost of implementation and maintenance for technical solutions, aligning them with the product’s business value.
- Leadership: Successful experience mentoring and growing team members from Middle to Lead/Owner levels.
- Production-ready architectural use cases involving procedural content generation (PCG) systems.
- Proven experience building custom profiling and validation workflows on large-scale projects.
- Own the Technical Vision: Ensure all graphical content adheres to unified technical standards, integrates smoothly into the engine, and does not compromise game performance.
- Build Production Pipelines: Participate in creating and ensuring the technical integrity of workflows across all departments (Environment, Character, VFX, UI, Lighting, etc.).
- Integrate with Feature Development: Join the gameplay feature development process at early stages to evaluate technical risks and design the entire feature path from concept to runtime and scaling.
- Manage Graphics & Performance: Find systemic optimization solutions (shader tuning, memory management, CPU/GPU bottlenecks) without compromising the visual quality of the game.
- Cross-Platform Adaptation: Tailor game graphics to the specific constraints of various platforms (Mobile, PC, Console) while avoiding the direct porting of PC-first workflows to mobile devices.
- Drive Automation: Proactively identify repetitive manual tasks and eliminate them by initiating the creation of exporters, validators, procedural systems, and custom tools.
- Shape the Team: Define the structure of the Tech Art department, delegate areas of responsibility, mentor leads, and build an autonomous, self-sufficient team.
